Senior forward Bryce Beamer of the Francis Marion University men's basketball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 3-8, 2023.

Beamer, a 6-5 native of Odessa, Fla., averaged 21.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in two come-from-behind wins last week. He connected on the game-winning jumper with 2.1 seconds left to beat King University 99-98 as the Patriots rallied from 15 points down in the first half.  FMU also rallied from 17 down to beat Lees-McRae College 113-105 on the road earlier in the week.  Beamer had a career-high 26 points versus LMC and 17 versus King.  For the week, he also tallied four assists, two blocks, and two steals, while committing only two turnovers. He shot 18-of-27 from the floor (66.7%), including 5-of-13 on three-point attempts, and was 2-of-3 at the foul line.

Francis Marion will play host to Erskine College in the team's only action this week, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.
