Junior setter Kaylee Gillespie of the Francis Marion University women's volleyball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 3-9, 2022.

After nearly two weeks off (because of Hurricane Ian), Gillespie led FMU to a pair of 3-0 road wins this past week.  The Pickens, S.C., native averaged 12.6 assists and 1.50 digs per set, while posting a set percentage of .418.  She also recorded five kills (in only 6 attacks), four blocks, and three service aces.

Francis Marion will return to action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. match at UNC Pembroke (in the latest installment of the Battle of I-95).  FMU will then host Barton College on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Southern Wesleyan University on Monday, Oct. 17, night.
