Francis Marion University / McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week

Francis Marion University men's soccer forward Alvaro Zamora has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 18-24, 2021.

The junior from Madrid, Spain, totaled two goals and an assist in two Patriot road wins last week. He registered eight shots (four of which were on target) as FMU remained unbeaten in conference play at 8-0-1.  He assisted on the opening goal and scored the tying goal (in the 89th minute) of a 3-2 overtime win at Mount Olive on Tuesday, before scoring the second goal in a 2-0 road win at North Greenville on Saturday.  He leads FMU with seven goals scored this season.

FMU concludes its regular season this week with a home match against Barton College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and a road contest at Erskine College on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
