Francis Marion University / McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week

Francis Marion University men's soccer forward Javier Bello has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 11-17, 2021.

A junior from Madrid, Spain, Bello assisted on both FMU goals last week, and they were very significant.  He assisted on the tying score in the 73rd minute of a 1-1 road tie with 19-ranked Chowan University, and then assisted on the winning goal in 105th minute as the Patriots beat Belmont Abbey College 1-0.  Francis Marion improved to 7-4-2 and remained unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play with a 6-0-1 mark.  He played 199 of a possible 215 minutes and registered four shots, two of which were on goal.

FMU plays a pair of key Conference Carolinas road matches this week: Tuesday at University of Mount Olive and Saturday at North Greenville University.
