Francis Marion University / McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week

Francis Marion University volleyball setter Kaylee Gillespie has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3, 2021.

A sophomore from Pickens, S.C., Gillespie helped keep Francis Marion unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play with a trio of road victories.  In the three contests, she averaged 9.00 assists and 2.45 digs per set, while also registering five kills, five blocks, and three service aces.  She posted her ninth double-double of the season in a win at Erskine College (41 assists/12 digs), and directed a Patriot offense that recorded a team hitting percentage of .227 for the week.

FMU returns home for its next two matches:  Friday versus Converse University (6 p.m.) and Saturday against Belmont Abbey College (11 a.m.).
