Freshman Dalton Horton of the Francis Marion University men's cross country program was named the McDonald’s Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 19-25.

For a fourth straight race, Horton recorded a team-best finish and set a new personal-best time in his first collegiate season with the Patriots. He placed 29th overall at the Coker Invitational, hosted at Darlington Raceway, and crossed the line in 27 minutes, 50.3 seconds in the 8K race, improving his personal record time by over 20 seconds.

Francis Marion is idle for two weeks before competing at the Conference Carolinas Championship on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, S.C.
