Senior swingman Cole Deptula of the Francis Marion University men’s basketball team has been named the McDonald’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Dec. 29-Jan. 4.

The Verona, Wis., native averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in two contests last week, while shooting 51.9 percent from the floor (including 8-of-15 from three-point range) and hitting all 10 of his free throw attempts.  He played 73 of 80 minutes.  Against Wingate University, he registered 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while in a road win at Lees-McRae College he scored a career-high 34 points and recorded seven rebounds and two assists.  In that game, he shot 8-of-10 from three-point range - one make shy of the FMU single-game record.

Francis Marion (3-9, 3-1) will host a pair of Conference Carolinas games this week: Wednesday (Jan. 7) at 7:30 p.m. against local-rival UNC Pembroke and Saturday (Jan. 10) at 4 p.m. against Young Harris College.
