Senior guard Tyra Myers of the Francis Marion University women’s basketball team has been named the McDonald’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Dec. 8-14.

The Columbia, S.C., native averaged 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in two road contests last week, all coming off the bench.  She shot 12-of-23 from the floor (52.2%), including 7-of-11 from three-point range (63.6%), and was 4-of-4 at the foul line.  She also handed out three assists and blocked one shot.

Her week included a 26-point, 4-rebound, and 2-assist outing at USC Aiken and a 9-point and 5-rebound effort at Winston-Salem State University.

Francis Marion (5-3) will close out its pre-Christmas schedule with road games at Chowan University on Dec. 16 and at nationally ranked Columbus State University on Dec. 19.
