Senior middleblocker Carolina Lucas of the Francis Marion University women’s volleyball team has been named the McDonald’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Nov. 10-16.

A native of Easley, S.C., Lucas played in all four sets and registered a season-high 23 kills, a .526 hitting percentage, two blocks, two service aces, and three digs in a 3-1 win over Mount Olive. In the process, she moved to within four of entering the Top 5 on the FMU career kills list with 1,162, while also moving into a tie for 13th position on the career blocks list with 296.

With the win, the Patriots secured the Conference Carolinas East Division title and the No. 1 overall seed in the league tournament.

Francis Marion will compete in the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 5:00 p.m. against the winner of No. 4 North Greenville/No. 8 Southern Wesleyan.
