Senior goalkeeper Ian Milla of the Francis Marion University men’s soccer team has been named the McDonald’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 20-26, 2025.

A native of Geiselwind, Germany, Milla played all 180 minutes of two FMU wins last week and recorded six saves and allowed only one goal (0.500 GAA).  He made three saves in a 2-1 win over the University of Mount Olive, including two saves that came after UMO trimmed the margin to 2-1.  He also registered three saves in a 3-0 road win at Erskine College.  It was his second shutout in FMU's recent five-match winning streak, and his third of the 2025 season. All three saves came with the decision still in the balance, in the fifth, 46th, and 58th minutes.

He has helped Francis Marion to an 8-3-3 overall mark and the Patriots have clinched at least a share of the East Division crown and own an 8-1-2 conference record.

FMU will play its final regular-season home match on Wednesday when the Patriots entertain Lenoir-Rhyne University at 7 p.m. on Hartzler Field.  Francis Marion will close out its regular-season slate with a road match at Chowan University on Saturday (Nov. 1) at 7 p.m.
