Junior forward Juan Salazar Lopez of the Francis Marion University men's soccer team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 28-Nov. 3, 2024.

A native of Palmira, Colombia, Salazar Lopez started and played 140 minutes in two matches last week -- both 2-1 wins by FMU.  He recorded three goals on six shots.  He scored the tying goal in a come-from-behind 2-1 road win at Lenoir-Rhyne University on Oct. 30, and scored both goals in 2-1 home victory over the University of Mount Olive on Nov. 2.  That match included him scoring the fastest goal in program history only 19 seconds after kick-of) as Francis Marion clinched the Conference Carolinas East Division title.

Francis Marion finished the regular season with an 8-5-5 overall mark and is awaiting Monday night's announcement of the conference tournament bracket to find out when, where, and who the Patriots will play this week.
