Senior outside hitter Kara Walker of the Francis Marion University volleyball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 14-20, 2024.

The Fayetteville, N.C., native averaged 3.20 kills, 4.40 digs, and 0.70 blocks per set in three wins last week.  She also served three aces, had four assists, and posted a .188 hitting percentage.  Her week started with an 11 kill,12 dig, and two block performance in a 3-0 road sweep of UNC Pembroke.  She then recorded 14 kills, 20 digs, three aces, and two blocks in 3-1 win over Young Harris College and seven kills, 12 digs, and three blocks in 3-0 win over Shorter University.

The Patriots, winners of five straight, will host Chowan University and Lander University on Wednesday (Oct. 23) at 3 and 6 p.m. respectively.  FMU will then entertain Emmanuel University (Ga.) on Friday at 6 p.m. and Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday at 2 p.m for Senior Day.
