Francis Marion University Athletics

Freshman Rowan Hearn of the Francis Marion University women's cross country team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Sept. 2-8, 2024.

In her first collegiate race, Hearn placed second at the Downback Invitational Meet, hosted by Methodist University, on Sept. 6.  The Summerville, S.C., native helped FMU to the team title (the team’s second win in the past eight meets) by completing the 4,000-meter course in a time of 18:30.47. 

Francis Marion registered a 23 team score to easily outdistance host Methodist University (58), local-rival Coker University (65), and conference foe Barton College (95).

Francis Marion will run next at the Converse University Kick-Off Meet on Sept. 21 in Spartanburg, S.C.
