Junior guard Jada Richards of the Francis Marion University women's basketball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Jan. 22-28.

The Douglasville, Ga., native averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in two victories last week -- running the team’s winning streak to seven games.  She shot 56.3 percent from the floor, including 5-of-8 from three-point range, and recorded one blocked shot and one steal.  She also helped the Patriots limited their two opponents to only 30.6 percent shooting from the floor and forced 35 turnovers that resulted in 39 points.

Francis Marion, now 13-5 overall and 8-1 in Conference Carolinas play, will host Chowan University on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
