Courtney Abdur-Rahim

Courtney Abdur-Rahim begins her sixth season as an assistant coach for the FMU women's volleyball program in 2026.

Abdur-Rahim assisted the Patriots to a 21-10 overall record in 2025, a conference-best 18-2 mark, the Conference Carolinas East Division crown, and the No. 1 overall seed in the league tournament.

In 2025, she coached a pair of American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Team honorable mentions in Madilyn Gartner and Caroline Lucas. As a team, the Patriots led the Conference Carolinas in kills per set (13.18), assists per set (12.33), digs per set (19.08), and opponent hitting percentage (.153). Gartner finished 15th in NCAA Division II with 462 total kills while Lucas finished 14th with a .377 hitting percentage.

Abdur-Rahim has trained 15 All-Conference Carolinas selections, including six first-team honorees.

She was part of the coaching staff that helped lead FMU to the 2021 Conference Carolinas Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA National Tournament.

A native of Orange Park, Fla., she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Francis Marion in 2021. A two-year starter and four-year letterwinner for the Patriots, she tallied 749 digs, 462 kills, 118 service aces, and 87 total blocks in 92 career matches. Her service ace total is the 15th highest in program history.

She was named the 2020 recipient of the Ray E. Thames Memorial Raise the Roof Frankie Award. She earned Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week honors once in 2018 and would lead the PBC in service aces (54) -- the highest service ace total for a Patriot since the 2007 season -- and aces per set (0.54) that season. She was named to the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll in 2018 and 2021 and to the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll on three occasions.

Abdur-Rahim is a product of Bartram Trail High School, where she earned first-team All-Area, All-Conference, and St. Augustine Record All-County accolades, while also being nominated for Miss Florida Volleyball.

She earned her master’s degree in sport and performance psychology from National University in 2025 and is currently pursuing a CMPC certification.
