Ryan McGee

Ryan McGee enters his second year of his second stint as an assistant coach with the Francis Marion University women's basketball program, having previously served as a Patriot assistant coach for the 2022-23 campaign.

During his two seasons on the FMU bench, the Patriots have posted a pair of 20-win campaigns and a combined 43-14 mark, while making the 2025 NCAA Division II National Tournament.

He spent the 2023-24 season as an assistant coach at Lander University, where the Bearcats produced a 19-win campaign.  The program matched the largest turn-around in school history (8 to 19 wins).  He help developed WBCA All-American and Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year Wykeria Johnson Kelly and second-team All-Conference pick Tania Gordon, both of whom are now playing professionally overseas.

Prior to coming to Florence, he served as head coach for boys' basketball, football, and baseball at Effingham County Middle School in Guyton, Ga. for the 2021-22 school year, and was an assistant boys' basketball coach at Effingham County High School.  He helped guide Effingham County to a 19-8 record and a state playoff appearance and a region championship-game appearance, while helping develop six All-Region selections.

He was an assistant boys' basketball coach at West Florence High School during 2020-21.

McGee earned a B.S. degree in sports management from Berry College in 2021 and a masters of arts in education from Middle Georgia University in 2022.  He also did undergraduate work at Brevard College.

The Columbus, Ga., native played basketball at Brevard and was a two-year starter on the football squad at Berry.  He later served as a student assistant coach for the Berry basketball program.

In addition to collegiate coaching, McGee serves as a site manager for Point Guard College (PGC) Camps, and has lead operations at 19 national sites while working with over 3,000 athletes from across the globe - teaching and mentoring through the game of basketball.
