Mike Hedrick begins his first season as an assistant coach onthe Francis Marion University women's basketball staff. Hisprimary responsibilities with the Patriots include recruiting,on-floor coaching, individual player workouts, pre- and post-seasonworkouts, and helping in the area of academic support for teammembers.
Hedrick is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University, where heearned a B.A. degree in health and physical education.
He served as the assistant girls' varsity coach at Hickory(N.C.) High School for the past four seasons. The RedTornados posted a 112-9 mark in those four years, including twostate championship game appearances, three Final Fours, and fourconference titles. Hickory was 26-3 in 2013-14 and reached thesectional finals.
Hedrick is a past-president of the Carolina Express BasketballOrganization, based in Hickory. He recorded 109 wins in threeseasons as an AAU head coach under the same organization.
He founded the Carolina Basketball Academy in 2012 to provideindividual basketball instruction to players in the Hickoryarea. He also served as an assistant boys' varsity coach atSt. Stephens Lutheran School in Hickory during the 2008-09 schoolyear.
