Johnette Walker

Johnette Walker is entering her sixth year as an assistant coach with Francis Marion women's basketball program, in this her second stint on the Patriot bench. Her primary responsibilities with the Patriots include recruiting, on-floor coaching, individual player workouts, pre- and post-season workouts, and helping in the area of academic support for team members.

She assisted with the Patriot program in 2015-16 and helped head coach Jeri Porter guide FMU to a 24-9 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.  She then served for two years on the staff at Division I USC Upstate and one season as an assistant coach at Chowan University (2018-19), before returning to FMU for the 2019-20 campaign.

Walker played three seasons for coach Porter, when Porter was the head coach at Radford University.  Walker graduated in 2009 with a B.S. degree in exercise sport and health education.  She was a three-time selection to the Big South All-Academic Team. 

On the court, the two-time All-Conference performer finished her career as the Highlanders' fifth-leading career scorer with 1,238 points and the conference career leader in steals with 348.  She was second on the Radford list for career assists with 498 and she set program marks for games played (122) and free throws made (451) and attempted (589). Walker was named Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year following her senior season, and is one of four players in Big South history to produce 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 400 assists, and 200 steals in a career.

Following her graduation, she has played professionally for the past six seasons in Germany, most recently for DJK MJC Trier.  During five of those seasons, she averaged more than 15 points and six rebounds per game.

Walker is a native of Columbia, S.C., and a product of Irmo High School.
