Francis Marion University Athletics

Jackie Simon begins her first season as an assistant coach onthe Francis Marion University women's basketball staff.

She recently earned a B.S. degree in sociology and criminaljustice from Mars Hill College, where she played two seasons on thehoops squad.  As a senior, she was team captain and averaged7.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.  In2010-11, she helped lead the Lions to a 17-10 mark, theprogram's most wins in six seasons.

She also attended Allegany College of Maryland, where she earnedan associate degree, and was named to the Top 120 JUCO women'sbasketball players for 2008-09.

She has done volunteer work with the Animal Shelter-Brother Wolfin Asheville, N.C., and the Banardsville (N.C.) ElementarySchool.  She has also worked as a summer camp counselor withthe Trinity Baptist Church in Hackensack, N.J.
