Yosimar Huerta begins his first year as goalkeeper coach with the Francis Marion University men's soccer program.

Huerta was a playing member of the past two Patriot teams, including the 2019 squad that captured the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

He is working to finish his undergraduate degree (finance) through the FMU School of Business.  He earned a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2021, served on the FMU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2020-21 school year, and was named to the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll each of the past four semesters.

He came to Francis Marion after spending two seasons at Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas.  There he earned an Associates Degree in general arts, was an All-Region and All-Tournament selection on the soccer field, and was named to the Dean's List.

A native of Laredo, Texas, he graduated from J.W. Nixon High School, where he was two-time All-Region and All-Conference selection.

He has worked as a retail sales associate with AutoZone, both in Laredo and Florence.
