FMU: Returning letterman.....2019-20 PBC All-Conference Team (third team)....Team MVP 2019-20....2020 Frankie Award for Male Athlete of the Year....USBWA National Player of the Week (Jan. 27-Feb.2, 2020)....PBC Player of the Week (Jan. 27-Feb.2, 2020)....PBC Player of the Week (Dec. 16-22, 2019)....Impressive freshman campaign as part of an NCAA Tournament Team (2019)....Played in all 30 games with one start....Shot 49.1 percent from the floor....Scored in double figures 13 times, including 22 vs Augusta (3-16-19) in the NCAA Tournament and a career-high 27 at Augusta (2-20-19) during the regular season....2 double-doubles....Led the team in blocks, was fifth in rebounding and sixth in scoring....PBC rankings: 12th in blocked shots, 19th in field goal percentage, and 32nd in rebounding....Can play multiple positions.....Size and strength around the basket will help in rebounding, defending, and scoring.....In addition to scoring inside, can also step away from the basket and score.....More physically prepard to play right away than a typical freshman.....Fundamentally sound.....Knows how to play and how to win....Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) 2019-20....FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll 2018 (fall), 2020 (spring).

  • Born Donovan Winston Hill in Columbia, S.C.
  • Graduate of Irmo High School, where he played under legendary coach Tim Whipple
  • Comes from same program as former Patriot guard Detrek Browning, who recently set the all-time FMU scoring record
  • As a senior, averaged 17.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game
  • Helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a 21-8 record and an appearance in the 5A state championship game
  • Shot 58.5 percent from the field and 70.4 percent from the free throw line
  • Earned both All-State and All-Region accolades, and was named to play in the SC/NC All-Star Game
  • Selected as the WLTX Player of the Week once during his final year
  • 2-time All-Region selection
  • Twice helped Irmo to the state championship game
  • Named to his school’s Athletic Academic Honor Roll

  • Goals for Upcoming Season:  Team-wise is to just win more games than last year; NCAA tournament is the main goal anything else is a fail
  • Individual goal: 1st-team All-Conference
  • Why you first chose your sport: I played football also; I was probably better at that, but I loved basketball and couldn’t stop playing it 
  • The biggest mental challenge to you improving faster: Getting past my shoulder; It’s a huge mental block.
  • Interesting Notes: 2-time State runner-up; 2-time All-Region; All-State 2018-18; Averaged 20 minutes a game as a freshman in college
  • Brush With Greatness: Greatness?? My high school coach is the definition of greatness; So I was around greatness for about 4 years in a row in high school; THE ONE AND ONLY TIM WHIPPLE
