PERSONAL: Born John Robert McGinty in Williamsville, NY....A product of Grand Island High School, where he played for coach Dean Santorio.....Four-year letterman....Was a New York State Class A finalist and a first-team All-League selection as a pitcher and shortstop following his senior year.....New ERA WNY Player of the Year....As a junior, recorded 87 strikeouts in only 50 innings pitched and batted .409 with three home runs and 27 RBIs.....Named 2012 first-team All-Western NY.....Four-time scholar athlete award recipient....Named to the All-Academic Team in the ECIC as a junior....Also lettered 3 years in football....Nickname is Johnny Mac.
