FMU:  First-year player....Good defensive player who can hit.....Even as a freshman, he may hit in the middle of our line-up.

PERSONAL:  Born Cody Smiley in Greenville, S.C.....A product of Laurens District 55 High School, where he played for coach Dale Nelson.....As a junior, batted .388 with 22 doubles and seven stolen bases....Two-time All-Region and three-time All-County selection....Entering senior year, had a three-year career average of .402 with only eight strikeouts.....Also earned Academic Letters in each of the three previous (Fr., So., Jr.) seasons.
