Cory Poulsen

Cory Poulsen enters his first year as an assistant coach with the Patriot program, after three seasons as a player.

A native of Bel Air, Md., Poulsen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science (criminal justice) in May 2022, and is currently working on a Master's of Education in Teaching and Learning.

During his three-year career as a Patriot, he made 57 pitching appearances, all in relief, and compiled a 2-2 record with one save and a 6.44 earned run average.  He fanned 49 batters in 57.1 innings of work.

He was named the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award winner for baseball in 2023, and was selected to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference Team in 2022.   He garnered a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2023, was named to the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll on five occasions, and was placed on the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll for both semesters of the 2022-23 school year.

Prior to transferring to FMU, Poulsen played two seasons at NCAA Division I University of Maryland Eastern Shore, appearing in 27 contests with a 1-2 record and four saves.  He led the 2020 Hawks' squad with a 0.96 ERA.  He was selected to the 2020 MEAC All-Academic Team and named to 2020 MEAC Commissioners' All-Academic Team.

He is a graduate of C. Milton Wright High School, where he played for coach Joe Stetka and earned All-County and All-Region recognition.
