Chris Ford begins his first year as an assistant coach with the FMU baseball program.
A native of Dillon County, and a graduate of Lake View High School, he earned his undergraduate degree in sports management from Limestone University in 2017. He was a two-year member of the Saints program as an outfielder. As a junior, he started 38 games and ranked third on the team with a .310 average, while registering three doubles, a triple, 19 runs scored, 19 runs driven in, and a team-leading 10 stolen bases. He batted .273 in 15 games as a senior with a .467 on-base percentage.
He also played two seasons at Florence-Darlington Technical College, batting .350 with two doubles and 22 RBIs in 35 games as a sophomore and hitting .333 with two doubles, a triple, and 13 RBIs in 44 games as a freshman.
He most recently served as an assistant coach at his high school alma mater for four seasons, during which time the Wild Gators reached two Class A state championships series and won the state title in 2021.Â
He is owner and operator of Bomb House Athletics, providing individualized baseball instruction, and has also served as a director and coach with Power Baseball SC Youth since 2020.
Ford spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons as a professional minor league umpire.
He also previously worked as a hitting coach with the Landon Powell Hit House.
