GREENVILLE, SC – Francis Marion University junior defender Alana Hunt has been selected the Conference Carolinas women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the period of Sept.14-20.

A native of Swindon, England, Hunt played all 180 minutes over two matches and anchored the FMU defense, as the Patriots posted a 1-1 mark in league play. Francis Marion only surrendered one goal and limited its opponents to just six shots on goal. On Wednesday night, she played all 90 minutes and held UNC Pembroke to just three total shots. Over the weekend, Hunt competed for all 90 minutes and limited Belmont Abbey to just four shots on goal in a 2-0 shutout win.

Hunt, the reigning Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, earns the weekly league accolade for the first time in her career.

Francis Marion returns to Hartzler Field on Wednesday, Sept. 23, to face Barton College in a divisional matchup at 4:30 p.m. before traveling to Emmanuel University on Saturday (Sept. 26) for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.

Hunt is a product of Hartpury College and is majoring in digital marketing.
