WAYNESVILLE, NC – Sophomore Chan Lee led Francis Marion University for a second straight event after shooting an even-par 213 (69-71-73) on Tuesday (Sept. 15) following three rounds of competition at the JT Poston Invitational hosted by Western Carolina University.

The three-day 54-hole event was played on the 6,735-yard, par-71 Waynesville Inn & Golf Club.

The Patriots registered a 291 team score on Tuesday to finish 16th in the team standings with an 869 total.

Francis Marion will return to the links on Sept. 22-23 at the Temple University Invitational in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

Lee shot a final-round 73 to lead the Patriot golfers on the individual leaderboard. He tied for 48th with a 54-hole score of 213 (E). He made eight birdies and tied for third in a field of 100 participants with 38 pars.

FMU freshman Matthew Griffiths shot 73 on Tuesday and tied for 64th with a 216 score, while sophomore Carson Jordan also fired a 73 and tied for 81st position at 219.

Freshman Yu-Hsiang Shih tied for 94th overall with a 227 after carding a final-round 72. Sophomore Cade Jordan finished with a score of 240 to place 100th.

The University of South Carolina leaped three positions on the leaderboard, edging NC State and Virginia Tech by five strokes to take the team title. Benjamin Fernandez of Southern Mississippi earned medalist honors with a 67-65-64=196 scorecard.
