FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University recent graduate Ryan Hunter was recognized as an All-Academic Athlete by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week as the organization announced its 2025-26 academic awards.

In order for individuals to earn the recognition, they must own at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA after at least 24 completed credit hours, and they must record an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in at least one event during the indoor or outdoor seasons.

A native of Blythewood, S.C., Hunter was the 2026 Outdoor Men's Track & Field Conference Carolinas Scholar-Athlete of the Year and delivered a historic conclusion to his collegiate career on the national stage. He became the program's first-ever NCAA Division II All-American after placing 13th overall in the javelin with a toss of 64.09 meters, which garnered second-team status.

Additionally, Hunter captured U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-region honors for a consecutive year in the javelin. He concluded his career as a two-time Conference Carolinas champion in the event while holding the conference meet record (66.61m) and school record (67.04m).

Hunter recently graduated with a master's degree in business administration while maintaining a 3.40 GPA. He also earned a bachelor's degree in management at Francis Marion.
