FLORENCE, SC – For a second-straight month, Francis Marion University shortstop
Logan Davis was chosen as the Conference Carolinas baseball Freshman of the Month for April, as announced by the league office on Friday.
Davis, a native of Charlotte, N.C., batted .305 while tallying 18 hits, three doubles, one triple, 10 runs batted in, 13 runs scored, four walks, and two stolen bases, as the nationally-ranked Patriots posted a 13-3 record in April.
Highlights of the month, Davis produced a 2-for-4 performance with a double, three RBIs, and one run scored in a 12-2 win over Wingate on April 14. In the Erskine series win, he totaled four hits, three doubles, five runs scored, one walk, and one stolen base.
Davis served as the everyday shortstop and recorded a .968 fielding percentage with just two errors on 62 total chances. He also recorded 37 assists and was involved in five double plays in 16 games.
This season, Davis owns a .304 batting average with 59 total hits, 12 doubles, three triples, while tallying 38 runs batted in. Additionally, he has tallied 47 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 53 starts.
The 11th-ranked Patriots ranked fifth in the latest NCAA Southeast regional rankings released on Wednesday. Francis Marion awaits the Selection Show on Sunday, May 10, at 10 p.m., as eight Southeast Region programs will earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament (3 conference championships and five at-large bids).
Davis is majoring in business and is a product of Gaston Christian School.
