FMU's Monahan appointed to NCAA Division II Membership Committee

FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University Director of Athletics Quin Monahan has been named to the NCAA Division II Membership Committee. He will serve a four-year term beginning in September 2026.

The Membership Committee reviews and considers issues pertaining to the Division II membership requirements and membership compliance issues. The committee establishes policies and procedures for prospective member institutions and conferences to achieve active membership status in Division II, and has the authority to approve or deny a prospective member's request for membership.

"I'm honored to serve on the NCAA Division II Membership Committee. As an AD who has led an institution through the membership process, I look forward to giving back, helping others navigate the path, and continuing to strengthen Division II.", said Monahan.

Prior to joining FMU, Monahan guided USC Beaufort to full membership in Division II as of the 2025-26 academic year. The Sand Sharks completed a rigorous three-year transition period that required meeting specific benchmarks in compliance, staffing, scholarships, academic support, and institutional commitment. USCB entered the Peach Belt Conference in the Southeast Region in 2022.

Monahan joined Francis Marion as the University's fourth athletics director in September 2025 after previously serving 13 years as the AD at USC Beaufort. He has 17 years of experience leading four-year college athletic programs with prior positions at Belmont Abbey College and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
