Riley Orr was selected as the Conference Carolinas baseball Player of the Week for the week of March 30-April 5.
A native of Maryville, Tenn., Orr posted a .438 batting average (7-for-16) with three doubles, seven runs batted in, and three runs scored, as Francis Marion posted a 3-1 record last week. He recorded a .625 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage in 16 at-bats.
On Tuesday night, Orr reached base four times after going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, three runs batted in, one run scored, one stolen base, and two walks in a 14-0 shutout win at Newberry College.
In a three-game series versus UNC Pembroke, he finished 5-for-12 with a pair of doubles, four runs batted in, and two runs scored. He drove in one on two hits in Game 1 before collecting three hits, including two doubles and driving in three in a Game 3 win over the Braves to clinch the series.
Orr ranks second on the team with 16 multi-RBI performances, including eight games with at least three runs batted in. He sits among the top 20 in NCAA Division II with 52 RBIs and 51 runs scored.
Francis Marion, now 30-8, moved into the Top 10 in this week's D2 Baseball and ABCA polls, ranking as high as No. 7 in the country. The Patriots will compete on Tuesday, April 7, in a non-conference midweek game at Lander University at 5 p.m. before hosting Ferrum College in a three-game series at Sparrow Stadium this weekend. FMU will play Game 1 at 6 p.m. on Friday before playing the doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m.
Orr is majoring in sport management and is a product of Maryville High School.
