FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University lost its Conference Carolinas opener, a 7-0 defeat to 23rd-ranked Belmont Abbey College, Friday afternoon (March 13) in men's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion (2-5, 0-1) will continue conference action on Saturday as the Patriots host Chowan University at 2 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.
 
Despite a 7-6 (7-4) victory at the top position by freshman Boris van Ruiten and junior Alexandre Frigout, FMU lost the other two matches and the doubles point.
 
Belmont Abbey (9-9, 1-0) swept all the singles matches, although the Patriots took three of the positions to three sets.
