Jennings named Conference Player of the Week

Francis Marion University junior guard Uriah Jennings has been named the Conference Carolinas women's basketball Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 2-8.

A native of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Jennings averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in two wins last week.  She connected on 56.7 percent of her field goal attempts and was 6-of-10 at the foul line, while also recording one assist.

She scored a career-high 25 points to go along with two rebounds and a steal in a 64-53 road win at UNC Pembroke, and then tallied 16 points, six rebounds, and two steals in 70-61 come-from-behind win against Belmont Abbey College.

For the season, Jennings is averaging 9.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, and is third on the team in both assists and steals.  She ranks 22nd in Conference Carolinas with 1.7 steals per game.

Francis Marion has won seven consecutive games and owns a 14-7 overall record and a conference-best 11-2 league mark.  The Patriots also sit atop the initial KPI rankings that were released on Monday (Feb. 9), the metric used to determine seeding for the conference tournament.

FMU will host Chowan University on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., the first of three contests this week.  The Patriots will play at Converse University on Thursday at 5 p.m. and at King University in Bristol, Tenn., on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Jennings is majoring in business marketing and is a product of Cleveland Heights High School.  She played her first two seasons at NCAA Division I University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff before transferring to FMU.
