Francis Marion University senior left-hander pitcher
Alyssa Poston has been selected as the Conference Carolinas softball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1.
The Hartsville, S.C., native registered a complete-game win in the Patriots' 7-1 season-opening victory over Newberry College. She tossed 107 pitches, allowed just four hits while striking out 11 and walking just one. The only run was unearned.
This marks the eighth time in her three-year career at FMU that she has been named the conference Pitcher of the Week. Her combined record as a Patriot is now 57-8 and she is fourth in career victories, while also standing fourth in career strikeouts with 403.
Francis Marion (2-0) was to have hosted Georgia College & State University for a doubleheader on Wednesday (Feb. 4), but those contests have been postponed due to the threat of precipitation.
The Patriots will play their next two twinbills on the road at Augusta University on Saturday at 1 p.m. and at Coker University on Tuesday (Feb. 10) at 2 p.m. The next home contests are a doubleheader against Ferris State University on Friday, Feb. 13, at 3 p.m.
Poston is a product of Hartsville High School and is majoring in healthcare administration.
