FLORENCE, SC – Augusta University claimed a three-set decision at No.5 singles to edge Francis Marion University 4-3, Saturday afternoon (Feb. 28) in non-conference men's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion (2-2) will host West Virginia Wesleyan University on Monday at 10 a.m.
 
In doubles play, the Jaguars (3-4) earned a 6-2 win at the No.3 position and a 6-3 victory at the top spot to claim the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.
 
Augusta went up 2-0 with a quick straight-sets win at No.2 singles.
 
FMU freshman Boris van Ruiten won 7-5, 6-3 at the fourth slot to trim the deficit to 2-1, but the Jaguars were victorious at the No.6 position to take a 3-1 advantage.
 
Patriot sophomore Miguel Maia claimed a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the top spot and junior Alexandre Frigout earned a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win at the No.3 position to even the match at 3-3.
 
Augusta then clinched the match with its 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No.5 singles.
