HICKORY, NC – Francis Marion University claimed the doubles point, but Lenoir-Rhyne University rallied to win five of six singles matches to claim a 5-2 win over the Patriots, Saturday afternoon (Feb. 14) in non-conference men's tennis play.
 
The Patriots (1-1) will return to action next Saturday (Feb. 21) at Anderson University (S.C.) for a 2 p.m. match.
 
After dropping the No.1 doubles match by a 7-5 count,  FMU won the next two matches to take a 1-0 advantage.  Junior Alexandre Frigout and freshman Boris van Ruiten came away with a tiebreaking win at the No.2 position, 7-6 (7-2), while sophomores Adrian Calvo Guerrero and Diego Vega Espinosa won by the identical score at No.3 doubles.
 
Lenoir Rhyne (1-0) won the first four singles matches to finish to clinch the match.  van Ruiten provided the other Francis Marion point with a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory at No.4 singles.
