Owen Powell tossed 7.2 innings of scoreless relief, as Francis Marion University scored 14 unanswered runs in a 14-3 win over Coker University on Tuesday evening (Feb. 10) at Sparrow Stadium in non-conference baseball action.
The Patriots improve to 6-1 overall while extending their winning streak at Cormell Field to 19-straight victories. FMU's offense has been an impressive tear after scoring double-digit runs in five of seven games.
Francis Marion will begin Conference Carolinas action this weekend (Feb. 13-14) with a three-game series at Chowan University. The opening game will be played on Friday, Feb. 13, at 1 p.m.
Coming out of the bullpen, Powell (1-0) delivered 7.2 innings (79 pitches) of scoreless relief with five strikeouts and one walk in the win, while surrendering just five hits.

Ethan McAnally totaled two extra-base hits, four RBIs, and two runs scored.

Will Dorrell stretched his reached base streak to 50 games following a two-hit performance on Tuesday.
In the top of the second, the Cobras established a 3-0 advantage after scoring on a two-run single and a fielder's choice RBI. The Patriots were held scoreless through the opening three frames before Orr launched a solo homer to left field, his second of the year, to get the Patriots on the scoreboard in the fourth. Jimmy Koza laced an RBI single to left center to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Following back-to-back singles in the fifth, McAnally peppered a two-run double to right center, as Francis Marion grabbed the lead, 4-3. Redshirt junior
Zander Buchan extended the lead to 5-3 with a two-out RBI single through the left side
In the sixth, the Patriots drove in three more runs following an RBI double by Bussey III and a two-run triple to right center from McAnally, 8-3.
