FLORENCE, SC – Junior forward
Isabella Fregoso was a scary sight for the Bulldogs, netting a brace as No. 2 seed Francis Marion University took down seventh-seeded Barton College 4-0 in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday (Oct. 31) at Hartzler Field. With today's victory, graduate student forward
Tehya Dave' broke the record for single-season assists with 15, snapping the 19-year-old record, previously held by Ashley Fortune, 14 assists (2007).
The Patriots improve their overall record to 13-4-1 and advance to the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 5, to face No. 3-seeded Lees-McRae College at the championship site, Bryan Park in Browns Summit, N.C., starting at 6:30 p.m.
Dave' is now the fifth player in FMU history to achieve 90 career points, currently sitting at 91 following a two-assist performance in the quarterfinal. Graduate student midfielder
Camryn Bliss and junior midfielder
Nalani Hunt each found the back of the net while sophomore forward
Matea Bradfield, sophomore defender
Laïla Ayup, and senior defender
Joy Brockmann all contributed an assist.
A clean sheet came from freshman forward
Ryleigh Ackermann, her second this season as the emergency keeper while recording two saves on the day.
Following an unsuccessful set-piece by the Bulldogs, Dave' was on a mission, driving down almost the full length of the field to eventually occupy the Barton backline inside the box. Dave' delivered a cross to Fregoso, who scored from six yards out at the 17:37 mark.
In the 55th minute, Bradfield capitalized off a Barton turnover following a goal kick and passed to Fregoso. The native of Prosper, Texas fired from roughly 10 yards out into the far post and collected her second goal for the day, her eighth of the season.
At the 62:12 mark, Ayup launched a through ball from midfield, where Bliss hit a header from 12 yards out landing in the left corner of the net to make it a three-goal advantage in FMU's favor and her fourth goal of the 2026 campaign.
N. Hunt was the final Patriot to put a point on the board in the 79th minute. A through ball coming from Brockmann found Dave' on the right side of the field before dishing it off to N. Hunt. The Swindon, England native found the bottom left corner around eight yards out to cap off the shutout victory.
A frightening 25-6 shot advantage goes to Francis Marion alongside the 3-2 edge over Barton in corner kicks.
