Due to cold temperatures and potential snow in the forecast this weekend, Francis Marion University Athletics has announced several schedule changes involving baseball, basketball, and softball.
On the baseball diamond, the Patriots are still scheduled for a season-opening Friday (Jan. 30) doubleheader against Concord University, starting at 2 p.m. at Sparrow Stadium. Game 3 of the series was to have been a single game on Saturday afternoon, but that contest has been canceled.
The FMU softball program will now begin its 2026 season on Friday (Jan. 30) after scheduling a new doubleheader against Newberry College at the FMU Softball Stadium. The start time has been set for 1 p.m. Additionally, Francis Marion has canceled its home doubleheader against USC Aiken on Sunday (Feb. 1).
On the hardwood, the men's and women's basketball programs have postponed their matchups against Southern Wesleyan University, which were scheduled for this Saturday afternoon in the Smith University Center. A make-up date for the basketball doubleheader will be announced in the coming days with the potential of playing this upcoming Monday (Feb. 2) night.
