FMU Women’s Soccer garners Team Academic Award

The Francis Marion University women's soccer program earned the College Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches organization for the 2024-25 academic year. It marks the 13th time in the past 22 seasons the Patriot women have earned this accolade.

Francis Marion was one of 446 women's program nationwide (all levels and divisions) to earn the award, and one of seven Conference Carolinas schools to be recognized.  FMU was also among only nine Palmetto State institutions included on the list.

To be eligible, a program must have posted a combined 3.0 or high grade point average for the 2024-25 academic year.

The Francis Marion women posted a 3.46 GPA last year.

On the field, second-year head coach Sam Holmes guided the Patriots to a 12-3-4 record, a Conference Carolinas Tournament Title, the Conference Carolinas East Division championship, and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Women's soccer is one of 10 FMU sports that garnered academic team awards this past year.
