Francis Marion University senior right-handed relief pitcher Danny Leo  has been named the Conference Carolina Baseball Pitcher of the Week presented by ConferenceCarolinasTravel.com for the week of April 21-27.

Leo, a native of Centreville, Va., entered Sunday's contest against Newberry College with one out in the third inning and tossed 6.2 innings while allowing only two hits, one run, and one walk.  He struck out nine – one shy of his career high – and earned the win in a 2-1 victory over the Wolves.

Leo upped his season record to 5-0 while lowering his earned run average to 3.37 in 12 appearances.

Francis Marion finished its regular season with a 39-11 record.  The Patriots shared the Conference Carolinas regular-season crown with Young Harris College as both squads posted 22-8 marks.

FMU is the top seed for this week's conference tournament at Caromont Health Park in Gastonia, N.C.  The Patriots will face the winner of the Shorter University/Emmanuel University (Ga.) play-in game on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Leo is a sports marketing major and a graduate of Westfield High School.
