Lara Lanno contributed a pair of wins near the top of the line-up to help propel Francis Marion University to a 6-1 win over visiting Chowan University, Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 2) in Conference Carolinas women's tennis action.
Francis Marion evens its overall record at 6-6 and improves to 4-2 in conference play. The Patriots will play at Lees-McRae College on Tuesday (Apr. 8) at 1 p.m. in Banner Elk, N.C. That match was originally set for Friday, but moved due to forecasted wet weather.

Maia Warlies swept to a quick 6-0 victory at the No.3 position and Lanno and freshman
Valery Gomez followed with a 6-1 win at the top spot.
Lanno opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No.2 position and Gomez was victorious at the No.4 spot by a 6-3, 6-0 decision. Junior
Lian Timmermans provided the match-clinching point with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No.6 singles.
Senior
Sophia Hansen won 6-1, 6-1 at the No.3 position and Warlies won 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (11-9) at No.5 to account for the other Francis Marion points.
Lanno and Gomez led the young Patriot squad with seven and six singles wins respectively this season.
