FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University swept all three doubles matches, but Belmont Abbey College rallied to win five of the six singles matches to claim a 5-2 non-conference win over the Patriots, Friday evening (March 7) in men's tennis play.

Francis Marion, now 3-3, will open its Conference Carolinas schedule on Friday, March 14, by hosting Shorter University at 1 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.

In doubles play, FMU freshmen Diego Vega Espinosa and Adrian Calvo Guerrero won 6-4 at the No.3 position, seniors Harri Lloyd-Evans and Austin Vienna were victorious 6-3 at the second spot, and senior Martin Barbera and freshman Miguel Maia [FMU] captured a 7-6 (7-0) win at the No.1 spot.

Belmont Abbey (9-13) won the first singles match (No.6) to even the match at 1-1.  Maia put the Patriots back on top with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the No.2 spot, but the Crusaders won the final four singles matches, including two matches that went three sets.
