TIGERVILLE, SC – Senior
Harri Lloyd-Evans helped provide the clinching doubles win and then produced the match-clinching point with a singles win at the No.3 spot as Francis Marion University claimed a 5-2 road win over North Greenville University, Saturday afternoon (March 29) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis action.
Francis Marion ups its overall mark to 7-5 and is 3-2 in conference play. The Patriots will return home to entertain Chowan University on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
In doubles play, senior
Martin Barbera and freshman
Miguel Maia won at the top spot by a 6-3 decision and Lloyd-Evans and senior
Austin Vienna were victorious in a tie-breaker 7-6 (7-3) at the No.2 position.
In singles action, North Greenville tied the match with a win at the No.1 spot. FMU freshman
Diego Vega Espinosa put the Patriots back ahead with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No.6 singles and junior
Rodrigo Moura Ludgero followed with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at the No.4 position.
Lloyd-Evans clinched the match with his 6-4, 6-3 victory at No.3 singles. Maia accounted for the other Francis Marion point with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 win at No.2 singles.
