FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – Senior Luis Lopez Sarasa rallied for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No.5 singles to give Francis Marion University a 4-3 road victory over Emmanuel University (Ga.), Friday afternoon (March 28) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis play.
 
Francis Marion, now 6-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play, will finish its weekend road trip with a 10 a.m. match at North Greenville University on Saturday.
 
In doubles play, FMU senior Martin Barbera and freshman Miguel Maia won 6-3 at the top spot, but the Lions won the No.2 and No.3 matches by 6-4 and 7-5 scores to earn the doubles point and an early 1-0 advantage.
 
In singles action, Barbera was victorious 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at the No.1 position, and senior Harri Lloyd-Evans came from behind to capture a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at the No.3 spot.  Patriot freshman Diego Vega Espinosa captured a 7-5, 0-6, 6-2 win at No.6 singles, but Emmanuel won at the No.2 and No.4 positions to even the match at 3-3.
 
Lopez Sarasa then delivered the clinching point at No.5 singles.
