Diego Vega Espinosa each contributed two wins to propel Francis Marion University to a 5-2 victory over the University of Montevallo, Tuesday afternoon (March 25) in non-conference men's tennis play.
Francis Marion evens its overall mark at 5-5, and will play at Emmanuel University on Friday at 1 p.m.
In doubles play, Lloyd-Evans and senior
Austin Vienna were victorious at the No.2 spot by a 6-3 count and Vega Espinosa and freshman
Adrian Calvo Guerrero clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the No.3 position. Barbera and Maia also won at the top position 7-6 (9-7).
As singles play commenced, Lloyd-Evans upped the advantage to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No.3 position. Maia followed with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No.2 spot to increase the lead to 3-0.
After Montevallo trimmed the margin to 3-1 with a three-set win at No.4 singles, Vega Espinosa provided the clinching point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No.5 position.
Barbera provided the final FMU point with a come-from-behind 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) at the top spot.
