FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University fell to NCAA Division I opponent Campbell University 6-1, Saturday afternoon (March 22) in non-conference men's tennis play.
 
Francis Marion, now 4-5, will host the University of Montevallo on Tuesday at 1 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.
 
In doubles play on Saturday, Campbell (6-10) claimed a 6-3 win at No.3 doubles before Patriot senior Martin Barbera and freshman Miguel Maia won in a tie-breaker 7-6 (7-4) at the top spot.  The Fighting Camels then earned the doubles point with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5) victory at the No.2 position.
 
In singles competition, Campbell won the top five singles matches, although two went to three sets, before freshman Adrian Calvo Guerrero accounted for the lone FMU point with a come-from-behind 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) win at No.6 singles.
