WILSON, NC – Senior Luis Lopez Sarasa and freshman Diego Vega Espinosa earned singles wins for Francis Marion University, but it wasn't enough as the Patriots lost a 5-2 road decision to 40th-ranked Barton College, Tuesday afternoon (March 18) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion (4-4, 1-1) will host NCAA Division I Campbell University on Saturday at 1 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.
 
Barton took a 1-0 advantage by winning all three doubles matches, although two contests were narrow 6-4 and 7-6 margins.
 
Trailing 2-0 in singles, Vega Espinosa sliced the margin half with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No.6 singles.  However, the Bulldogs (10-4, 2-0) won the next two matches to clinch the outcome.
 
Lopez Sarasa provided the other FMU point with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win at the No.5 position.
