Francis Marion University sophomore first baseman
Charlie Bussey III has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 17-23, 2025.
Bussey III, a native of Graniteville, S.C., batted .562 (9-for-16) in four games last week with nine runs scored, two doubles, two homers, and eight runs batted in. He slugged 1.062 with a .619 on-base percentage, was 4-for-4 in stolen bases, and did not commit an error in 35 fielding chances.
He is riding a current 6-game hitting streak, and in the team's 15 games this season, he has recorded 10 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games. He ranks second in the conference in hitting (.471), slugging (.765), and OPS (1.332), has driven in a team-high 20 runs.
Francis Marion (11-4) will host USC Aiken (7-7) on Wednesday at 3 p.m. on Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students with FMU students admitted free with identification. The Patriots will return to conference action this weekend with a three-game series at 15th-ranked Young Harris College.
Bussey III is a graduate of Aquinas High School and is majoring in sports management.
