FLORENCE, SC –  Francis Marion University claimed five of six singles matches to earn a 5-2 victory over local-rival Coker University, Saturday morning (Feb. 15) in non-conference men's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion (2-0) will host Limestone University on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
 
Coker (1-2) took an early 1-0 advantage by winning the doubles point.  FMU senior Martin Barbera and freshman Miguel Maia won 6-2 at the top doubles position, but the Cobras won at spots No.2 and 3.
 
Patriot senior Harri Lloyd-Evans evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No.2 singles.  Barbera put the Patriots ahead with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the top singles position.  Maia followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No.3 singles and junior Rodrigo Moura Ludgero clinched the match for FMU by winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in come-from-behind fashion at No.4 singles.
 
Freshman Diego Vega Espinosa accounted for the other Francis Marion by winning at No.6 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
